Squad planning

Divine Battlegrounds Squad Planner

A doctrine page: which documented character to main, what backs it up, and a checklist that survives any update.

Quick answer: one main, one backup, four inputs

Divine Battlegrounds is a fast battlegrounds fighter — up to 15 players a server, fights decided by melee strings, blocks, dashes, and ultimates. The squad doctrine the documented facts support is small: main one character you can actually claim (KJ via the FREEKJ code is the documented free path), keep a second as an update hedge, and drill the four official inputs that decide fights at every level — block (F), dash (Q), evasive (Q while ragdolled), and ultimate (G). Everything else on this page expands that answer: the documented roster and what each name is evidenced as, the role checklist, and worked session examples.

Documented roster

Who you can actually plan around

Evidence-graded rows, checked 2026-10-03. Full notes on the wiki's builds-and-entities page.

NamePlan around it?Evidence
KJYes — official playable exampleNamed in the official description's playable-examples sentence; the FREEKJ code is documented as granting the KJ character.
JKYes — official playable exampleNamed in the official description; the October title tag also advertises JK alongside KJ.
Strongest HeroYes — official playable exampleNamed in the official description's playable-examples sentence.
GojoYes — official playable exampleNamed in the official description and in Roburo's summary; a September 18, 2026 creator video reports the Gojo ultimate was renewed.
Undying HeroYes — official playable exampleNamed in the official description; a September 18, 2026 creator video reports the Undying Hero ultimate was added.
Energy MasterWait — video-reported onlyA September 14, 2026 creator video reports the addition; played in a September 17 player video; no official source names it yet.

The official description names KJ, JK, Strongest Hero, and Gojo as playable examples; Undying Hero appears in the September description observations with an ultimate reported added. Energy Master and Whitebeard are creator-video reports — plan a tryout, not a main, until an official source names them.

Role doctrine

The three squad roles in a battlegrounds fighter

Roles here are session roles, not unit classes — how you split practice time across your account.

The main

One character that gets 70% of your match time until its full loop — strings, block timing, dash cancels, ultimate conversions — is automatic. The main is where rank climbing happens, because the documented ladder (Roblox Den's summary: "become the top warrior") rewards consistency, not variety.

The backup

A second documented character kept at functional level. Its job is update insurance: when a titled patch reworks your main's ultimate (as the September 18 video reports for Gojo), the backup keeps ranked sessions productive while you relearn. Treat it as the low-risk half of the planner decision — a pick whose documented inputs do not change when the title does.

The tryout slot

Reserved for newly reported characters — Energy Master and Whitebeard as of the September videos. Tryouts run in casual matches only, never ranked, and a tryout graduates to backup only after you can win with its basics.

Checklist

Pre-session squad check

Run this five-point check before any ranked block. It uses only the official control table.

  1. 1

    Codes claimed

Redeem the reported set first — a code-granted character (FREEKJ) or emote (FREEEMOTES) changes what your squad even is. Live status on the codes page.

  2. 2

    Main warmed up

Two casual matches on your main before ranked: left-click strings on a target, then F block under real pressure.

  3. 3

    Defense inputs mapped

Confirm muscle memory for Q dash away from pressure and Q-while-ragdolled evasive — the two inputs the official description ties to recovery.

  4. 4

    Ultimate plan named

Decide before the match what G is saved for (a blocked string, a cornered opponent); ultimates thrown on cooldown are the documented system's classic waste.

  5. 5

    Update check done

Read the latest title-tag observation on the updates page — a [BIG UPDATE]-class tag can change the ultimate or roster you are about to play.

Worked examples

Three account states, three squad plans

Day-one account

Squad: KJ as main (claimed via FREEKJ), nothing else yet. Sessions: control-table drills first, then casual matches. Success measure: block-dash-evasive without thinking, ten matches in a row.

Ranked climber

Squad: your best-practiced official playable example as main, a different one as backup. Sessions: two warmup casuals, then a ranked block on the main only. Success measure: rank trend over the week, not per-match.

Post-update account

A titled update just shipped. Squad: backup promoted for a week, main demoted to tryout while its ultimate changes settle. Sessions: re-run the checklist in casuals; read the updates page before ranked returns.

FAQ

Squad-planning questions

What counts as a "squad" in Divine Battlegrounds?

Divine Battlegrounds is a battlegrounds fighter, not an auto-battler: your squad is the character (and form) you bring into a server, plus the two or three inputs you have actually mastered. Squad planning here means choosing which documented character to main per session and which skills back it up — not assembling a unit team.

Which character should a new player main first?

Whichever documented one you own, and KJ is the easiest to own: the FREEKJ code grants the character outright (checked 2026-10-03). Maining one character until its strings, block timing, and ultimate (G) are automatic beats rotating through every unlocked name — battlegrounds skill transfers through repetition.

Are there documented character stats to compare?

No. The developer publishes no stat table and no community wiki exists yet, so this page plans by role and evidence — what each name is documented as — rather than by invented damage numbers. When a measurable source appears, the tier list and this page will use it.

How often should I re-plan my squad?

At every titled update. The September 2026 record shows why: an Undying Hero ultimate added and a Gojo ultimate renewed (September 18 video), a second Zombie Man ultimate reported (September 19), and Energy Master and Whitebeard reported as new characters (September 14). Any of those can change which character deserves your session.

What if my planned character loses in ranked?

Run the pre-session checklist before blaming the pick: block (F) held under pressure, dash (Q) used to escape rather than into attacks, evasive (Q while ragdolled) on every knockdown, ultimate (G) saved for a real opening. In documented-mechanic terms, those four cover most losses at every level of play.
